Embracing ConcertUMS Recital Hall, 7:30pm. Jesselton Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in 2007 for instrumentalists of all levels in Sabah, Malaysia. In 2012, with generous commitments from sponsors, instrument donors, and volunteer professional musicians in Malaysia and abroad, JPO launched its annual Outreach & Education program with free concerts and masterclasses for all participants. Corollary to such dedicated support is the positive expansion of our regular teachings to more than 155 students in underserved communities, schools, and youth homes throughout ASEAN region. In their notable 12th year, thanks to their committed sponsors and volunteers, their annual Music Festival was held from December 3rd to the 6th, ending with their finale fundraising concert at University Malaysia Sabah recital hall. Internationally renowned volunteer-maestros, soprano, tenor from Korea and violinist from Singapore, performed on the evening with 170 of their musicians, including volunteer musicians-teachers from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore & Ipoh. A special violin by their volunteer luthier, Shotaro Nishimura from Cremona, Italy, debuted in this concert. It is noteworthy to mention that these international guests all contributed their talents, time, and travel expenses, ex gratia. An orchestra is a microcosm of society at large, in JPO context, the players learn pivotal acumens the optimal development of young adults with purposeful lives. Such positive derivatives are evidently reflected in their active engagements in similar initiatives wherever they are - evidenced in some of these young adults are current committee members tasked with organizing this momentous event. Vision Night 2019 - "Excelsior"Time: 7.00p.m.Venue: House of Prayer, St. Patrick’s Church, Tawau Admission: Free Over a decade since its inception in 2009, Vision School has impacted many lives in the field of education. Not only has it transformed many lives and provided learning opportunities to both rural and urban students, Vision School has also contributed a lot in the education hub of Tawau, particularly through its effort in organising community services to those in need. In conjunction with our 10th year anniversary, Vision School (Vision Primary School, Vision Secondary School and Vision International School) will jointly organise a night of celebration on November 15th, 2019 (Friday) at 7.00p.m. It will be a night of jubilation with performances from our talented students as well as a series of award-giving ceremony acknowledging the progress of our students and their achievements in the fields of academics and co-curriculum activities culminating with the graduation ceremony of our Form 5, Year 11 and Primary Six students. Parents and members of the public are invited to join us in our wonderful and joyous celebration this Friday. Admission is free. |
